Sorry I’m late with this, I’ve been swamped! As some of you already know, Harold & Kumar3 (a Christmas film) is started and filming is already underway in Detroit according to Detroit Free Press:

The storyline of the latest sequel is set six years after the last film – which sent the stoner buddies to Guantanamo Bay. In this installment, Harold and Kumar have grown apart and found new best friends. As they each get ready for their Christmas celebrations, Kumar receives a mysterious package. His effort to deliver it to Harold’s house prompts another journey for the duo, taking them to New York City on Christmas Eve.

Steve Weintraub over at Collider.com was on the set of FlashForward yesterday and got a chance to chat with John, who was nice enough to hip us all to the status of the next Star Trek film (for which he is returning as Sulu) and the much anticipated third Harold and Kumar film, A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas – here’s his list of what was said:

Harold and Kumar News
* looks like it is happening
* script has been turned in
* we catch up a little bit later in Harold and Kumar’s lives
* takes place over the holiday season
* this could be a legit holiday movie
* the intent is to honor the holiday traditional style of movies
* doesn’t know if there is an issue with Kal Penn
* studio tells him they’re moving forward on it
* no director yet
* confirms theatrical release
* thinks the movie is still on track to come out this Christmas
* Neil Patrick Harris is supposed to be in it
* Says they are not living together anymore…film jumps forward a few years
* Plan is to film the movie during his hiatus – thinks filming in June
* meeting with directors right now
* Still figuring out if there are complications with Kal’s schedule
